Travel sketchbook and my camera are inseparable trip companions.
Making sketches on travel is different from drawing in studio, where I often make drawings as independent works. Taking notes on the road can only be considered as preparatory work, even if no less fulfilling.
The watercolor is very well suit to being performed en-plein-air because the equipment is space-saving and non-greasy. You just need a little of water which is often is taken from your drinking bottle! Everything stay in a small bag together with a pencil and a sketching pad. This minimal instrumentation is all I need to collect ideas and develop projects for future works.
I take note of the places, I write something, in other words it is an album of priceless memories that I always take with me in my trips.
Since I am a tour guide my job is to daily travelling inside and outside my region, so there are many opportunities for me to practice "carnet de voyage".
